Gabriele Prosser, born and grown up in Düsseldorf/Germany, studied Communication at FH Düsseldorf with the main focucs “Graphic & Design”. During the course, she had creationed of large-format linocuts for Prof. Jörg Immendorf.
After working at Graphic designer at advertising agency, finaly she founded her own agency for advertising and design. In 1991 she discovered oil painting for her own pleasure and developed her abilities through self-teaching. The focuses of her work are the love to humanity and nature. The artist is unmistakably at home in the European painting tradition without necessarily turning her back on contemporary art.

I have occupied myself with art and design for many years.
The application of the oil medium onto the corresponding finely webbed canvas, sanded wood, or primed metal plate is in direct opposition to my penchant for perfection, because the trompe l’oeil illusion can only be depicted on very fine surfaces.
This is how an illusionary three-dimensional world is created from a two-dimensional world, through fine application of many overlapping layers of color.
Inspired by the oil paintings of well-known artists from the 16th century, I began to develop my own creative skills. Painting light, tonal skin and hair details, the reflections of shiny surfaces…these were my first few goals.
Through my knowledge of how to handle oil-based paint and my investment of time, patience and precise observation, I came closer and closer to my ambitious goals.
" It’s all about the little things...", according to this motto, my paintings should be admired at close range.
I deliberately incorporate small “flaws,” for example, cracks in a photorealistic painted wood frame, or damaged spots on the skin of an apple.
It is precisely these small flaws, which are inevitable in life, that bring a completely individual character and charm to an undamaged and new but somewhat lifeless object, and turn it into a valuable subject full of life.
It’s worth it to take a look at my pictures and take in all the little things that may have been painted with a small wink.
