Natalia Kurlyandskaya

I am an artist from Russia. Live in Moscow. My painting experience began in high school, where I copied drawings from the albums. Copying was very easy for me and at one point I realized that depicting real objects is no longer interesting for me. In my mind I went trough the history of art and realized that a simple color spot evokes my absolute immersion and excitement - a painting being an object, being a phenomenon of nature. For many years I’ve been keen primarily on the artists, such as Rothko, Klein, Manzoni and others, who have taken the path of austerity in their work. Perhaps it were the cycle of monochrome abstractions "Achrome" by Manzoni and biomorphic abstractions of Kandinsky that inspired me to a series of a-chromatic art, which I have been doing for 6 years. It has no direct relationship to these artists, each has his or her own ideology and system of restrictions. What interests me now is the rejection of color and of any connections to known forms. Since our brain is always looking for associations, you will surely find similarities with real objects or feel certain emotions in my compositions. Partially, it is my goal. I deliberately didn’t leave a clue in the title, didn’t direct your perception. It does not matter what I was thinking when it created - it is important what you feel or want to see.

a-chromatics art

A-chromatics Visible in conditions of a maximum contrast, can not stand the color, therefore are achromatic. Habitat: living within us, living among us. Any resemblance to the characters – humans, bacteria, germs, viruses – are random .Like chemical elements, they form bonds with their own kind. The amount of connections and laws of their formations is not yet clear.
