I have been a sculptor and painter a long time. I currently have been working on functional ceramics, mostly hand built. My work is very colorful and draw inspiration from nature without being literal.

BOWLS

Individual bowls vary in size between 9" and 14". They are hand built using cone 6 stoneware, then glazed. Many of them are carved in low relief. The designs are abstract although they derive from nature. They are very colorful. They are unique. Smaller bowls come in sets of 4 or 8 and are appropriate for salads or desserts.

SHINO FOOTED BOWL “SHINO FOOTED BOWL”

This bowl is approximately 8" across and 5" high. Its main interest is in the interaction of the glazes. The bowl is hand built and the pedestal is thrown on the wheel.

BLACK AND GREY FISH “BLACK AND GREY FISH”

This bowl is hand built, carved and glazed. It is approximately 13" in diameter. It was fired at cone 6 in oxidation.

RED ON BROWN “RED ON BROWN”

This bowl is approximately 12" in diameter. It is hand built and carved, then fired to cone 6 in oxidation.

BLUE AND WHITE BOWLS “BLUE AND WHITE BOWLS”

THESE BOWLS COULD BE USED FOR SOUP OR SALAD. THEY ARE MADE OF CONE 6 STONEWARE AND ARE HAND BUILT. THEY ARE 7" ACROSS AND 22.5" HIGH. THEY COME IN A SET OF 4.

Sun and Rain “Sun and Rain”

This decorative bowl is also functional. It is made of cone 6 stoneware, then carved and glazed. It measures 13" x 13" x 3".

PLATTERS

Plates and platters very in size from 9" to 13". Most of them are inspired from nature. They are cone 6 stoneware and usually carved in a low relief.

This platter can be decorative or functional. It is roughly 13" x 9" x 1.5". It is made of cone 6 stoneware, carved and glazed.

VESSELS

I LOVE MAKING VESSELS OF ALL SORTS. THEY ARE HAND BUILT OF TERRACOTTA OR STONEWARE AND DECORATED WITH GLAZED PATTERNS OR OTHER MEDIA.

THIS VESSEL IS PART OF A SERIES INSPIRED BY ANCIENT POTTERY SEEN IN THE MUSÉE DES ARTS PREMIERS IN PARIS, FRANCE.

VASE “VASE”

This vase is part of a series called Forest Stumps. It is about 13" high and waterproof. It is made of cone 6 stoneware, carved and glazed.

WALL PIECES

I have made many kinds of wall pieces and I usually work in series. Some are terracotta and some stoneware, often incised or carved. Surface treatment varies from traditional glazes to acrylic paints to color pencils. Most have a depth of 1" to 2".

BLUE QUILT “BLUE QUILT”

This an experiment and part of a series of pieces meant to suggest textile quilts. It is about 12" x 12" x 1.5" and is can be mounted flush to the wall. It is constructed with slabs bent over themselves and connected to form a 3-dimensional pattern. The individual sections are embossed. It is made of cone 6 stoneware and glazed.
