David Weppner

"Nature/Wildlife, Landscape, Fine Art, and Sports Action" are but a few of my favorite things, as the song goes. A photograph is a moment in time, not likely to be repeated. Since 2009, seeking those moments has been a driving force in my life. Already retired about 13 years, I had purchased a quality DSLR camera and set out to see what I could do as a serious fine art Amateur photographer.
Three comments have validated my efforts: A customer told me "I wish I had your eyes, to see the world as you do." A friend said of a portrait photograph in an exhibition, "I was drawn to it before I knew it was yours." A friend and Professional Photographer, observing one of my photos in a Gallery setting, said "It's all about the light, isn't it?" Inspiring words wouldn't you agree?
Living up to those words is my goal. The Essence of the Subject is always the objective. Francis of Assisi says that "All creatures bear the imprint of the Most High. (“Creatures” includes the inanimate as well, for example, Architecture)."
I believe that all Photographers and Artists seek the Imprint. Artists and Photographers have to leave it to others to determine whether the IMPRINT has been captured. Awards, compliments from non-Family individuals, and sales are indicators of this accomplishment
There are other dimensions to my life: Winn, my wonderful Wife of 54 years of Marriage, has been instrumental in furthering my photographic pursuits. We have four wonderful, accomplished children, Rebecca, Chris, Paul and Rachel, (“children” is a misnomer, as they are all over 45-years of age). I play chess. Two years ago, at age 80 and with absolutely no musical training or knowledge, I began playing the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer guided by Judy House (www.judyhousemusic.com), a gifted and patient instructor.
