Monique Lafond

Location: Canada

Monique Lafond was born in Montreal. She is a graduate of UQÀM in visual arts. Monique Lafond has participated in numerous workshops and studied at the Saïdye-Bronfman Center for the Arts and at the Fort Lauderdale Museum. To her credit, more than 150 group exhibitions, about half with jury as well as a few solos. Twenty prizes and mentions were awarded by her peers.

She has been a member of RAAV since 1997 and of Rose-Art which named her emeritus artist 2012. She was part of the Canadian delegation twice at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2010 and 2011.

Monique Lafond is interested in abstract art and contemporary landscapes which are imbued with textures using all the mixed and modern processes available to artists. Certain textures are the result of previous works that she likes to recover and which serve as a basis for a new exploration.

The whole harmonizes in sometimes asymmetric harmony in a subtle chromaticity of warm and cold colors. The figurative elements, sometimes glued or recovered or painted, come to orchestrate within a predetermined composition of the pictorial imaginary space.
