Janet Bell an expressive abstract artist based in the UK. It is her love of colour and the energy and emotion that colour can convey which interests her. She works freely and intuitively adding layers of acrylic paint and often scraping back areas to reveal contrasts and texture. The colours are applied using brushes, palette knives, fingers and non traditional implements to create the effects she desires.
Born in Kent Janet now lives in East Sussex by the sea. Originally she worked as a freelance textile designer after completing her course in 1980, becoming a member of the S.I.A.D. She has always enjoyed experimenting with different materials and paints but her change of direction began in 1990 when she decided to paint using acrylics on stretched canvases. Her work is ever evolving and has been exhibited both online and in galleries in the UK.
