Maria Kokkini was born in Athens in1968.She studied Maths in the Univercity of Patras. Her artistic activity began as a jewellery designer and creator collaborating profesionally with many jewellery workshops. In 2001 she starts her painting career introducing an original technique on wood using tempera and mixed materials. Maria Kokkini is a self-taught painter.She has participated in many group exhibitions and she has performed 13 solo. All the paintings which are included in this portofolio were inspired by the stickers we used to have when we were young.This is why they have a white line around every image.The idea is that we stick and unstick and stick back again to new persons, circumstances and objects.
