Linnea L. Tober

Linnea L. Tober _Artist Biography (July 2012): digital artist, photographer and painter

Linnea Tober grew up in the small, seaside town of Monmouth Beach, NJ and has recently moved to the quaint little town of Havre de Grace, MD.

While Linnea has always enjoyed working with paint and mixed-media for years, focusing on women, their mystery and beauty; she works extensively in photography as of late; focusing on nature and digital photographic abstractions. Ms. Tober has been pleasantly surprised by both her passion and comfort level working within these various mediums, as well as the positive response from her many fans and collectors. She adores the thrill of her ‘digital paintings’; the way she can play with color and movement, her two favorite elements. Her process is one of taking photographs always thinking of what they can be transformed into….colors, textures, shadows; she is consistently creating visuals in her mind as she photographs her nature subjects….”how can I transform this into one of my unique nature abstract to make it more curious, flowing, organic, and visually stimulating” for the viewer…?’

She feels it is critical, as an artist, to give back to the community and has been involved in a variety of socially engaged projects since beginning her artistic career. Some of the her most recent ones being the Mid-State Arts Resource Team (MART) Sharks for the Arts project, which supported arts funding and research, The Healing Power of Art show at The Guild of Creative Arts in Shrewsbury, NJ, which supported women’s cancer education (both 2010 and 2011), The Ft. Monmouth Women’s Day program, fostering education in women’s history; a solo show at the Red Horse Gallery, in the Freehold Raceway Mall, NJ to raise awareness for Celiac Disease, in 2010. Most recently her work was in the Belmar, NJ Surf Art show, a benefit for the Hannah Pro; providing assistance to young women struggling with drug addictions. She has had artwork auctioned for breast cancer awareness/research in the Atlantic Highlands, NJ (Sep 2011) and at an art auction for the Mental Health Association in Red Bank, NJ (Oct 2011).

Linnea attended Brookdale Community College and received her AA in elementary education as well as a certificate in graphic design, moved on to Kean University where she received her BA in Art History/Fine Art and most recently graduated from Monmouth University with her MAT in Art Education.
