Debra Bonsack

Raised in a painting studio by her artist mother and aunts, Debra Bonsack has been painting since the age of seven. Her work has been actively selling since the age of sixteen. The artists holds a bachelors in fine art with a painting concentration and two teaching credentials. After teaching art in the public schools for more than 25 years, her current pastime is with her own art and simi-private lessons. Bonsack is extremely prolific and her work can be found in collections across the United States as well as Asia.
Bonsack is best known for her large scale mixed media paintings with a twist. The medium, unique to this artist combines the thickly textured look of a palet knife oil with the fluidness of watercolor and an in-depth reflective quality. The artist has a tendency to show her work as a series. Her current works, entitled, " my happy place ", depict the sweet memories through the eyes of a child in clever formats. These unusual shapes extend from the boarders of the canvas in a unique, eye-catching appeal. The subject as well as the technique appeals to the viewer creating a sweet success story.

The new nest is a series regarding my move from California to Idaho.. The works replicate a feeling of confusion and joy as I pick up roots from a four generation homestead to new frontier. I found myself and my are to be questioned and the stable roots and reputation of my work at odds with the new environment.
