Michelangelo Miani was born in Venice,he lives and works near Lecco. He graduated in Philosophy at the University of Milan, he is a professional illustrator and an artist.
He deals with science fiction and fantasy, astronomy, history, educational and children’s illustrations. He has partecipated in many solo and group exhibitions, in Italy and abroad.
He makes use of digital and traditional tecniques like acrilic, water colours, pencil, mixed media.
Over the years he has developed an independent artistic research based on a process of synthesis and abstraction of his illustrations.
The analytical description of shapes, surfaces, materials lose all reference to certain natural worlds or realities while maintaining a strong plastic vision.
This kind of "minimal" realism refers to tensions and energies, forces, rhytms and relations about a technologized nature, in many ways compromised, and a technology that has become "natural", biologized.
It's a painting that gives a body to the abstract, looking for "essences" and general structures through the minute description of details. Ambiguity and uncertainty, including perception, characterize this problematic and unsolved balance between organic and inorganic, natural and artificial, and make the same distinction between abstraction and figuration meaningless.
The lack of horizon and the saturation of the pictorial space always suggest an endless dimension, a cosmic plenitude which is at the same time meaningful and unattainable .
