Born in Taipei in 1930, ceramic artist Asako Watanabe studied under Iwao Norimatsu at the Women's College of Fine Arts and under Ka-Kwong Hui at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. Refraining from color and expression in favor of emphasizing ghe form, her art conveys the beauty of three-dimensional shapes and their curves while avoiding the telling of a story.
