Lissette Solórzano, 1969 Visual artist. Lives and works in Havana.
She studied at the Higher Institute of Industrial Design (ISDI). In 2000 she participated in several workshops with the Maine University of Photography. During 2011-2012 she completed a master's degree in Microsoft at the Universidad Cristóbal Colón, Veracruz, Mexico. In 2010 she obtained an artistic residency in the United States with the Cara and Cabezas Contemporary Art Gallery (2010). Among the most notable publications that include her works are the Act of Sight 2022 catalog (Tsiaras Family Photographic Collection); the collection book of contemporary Cuban photography: The Light in Cuban Eyes 2015; Our Mothers (1996); Plastic Arts of the 90's and Reflections: the Sensationalism of Cuban Art. Her works are part of various public and private collections such as: Casa de las Américas; Cuban Photo Library; Center for Cuban Studies of NY; Harvard University; Museum of the Americas in Denver; The Gallery (Milan and Washington DC); Brevard Museum of Art; Plonsker Family Collection; National Museum of Art in the Philippines; National Center of Photography in Venezuela; Jenkins Johnson Gallery NY - San Francisco; Colby College Museum of Art; Tsiaras Family Art Collection; Museum of Fine Art Houston and Florida International University (FIU). She has received important awards inside and outside the Island, including: First Prize for Photography 11th Edition “Lorenzo il Magnifico” at the Florence Biennial, 2017; National Curatorial Award for the work “The City of Columns”, Havana, Cuba, 2005; Tina Modotti Award from the Cuban press, Havana, Cuba, 1995; and mention vwith the work “Fantasmas Efímeros” in the Photographic Essay Award, Casa de las Américas, Havana, Cuba, 1994.
