Edward L. Baxter

Raleigh native Edward Baxter has produced oil painting covering a wide array of subject matter such a landscapes, still life, portraits, jazz themes, abstracts, religious and African works.
In his early development, Ed was inspired by Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, John Biggers and Picasso. These days artists such as Thornton Dial, Purvis Young and Kehinde Wiley continue to provide a spirit-of-creation that has enable Ed to produce painting for over 50 years.

Ed's art has been exhibited at numerous venue including the North Carolina Museum of History, Woman's Club of Raleigh, Sertoma Art Center, Shaw University, St. Augustine's College, Local Color Gallery, Herbert C. Young Community Center, Cary, NC, Visual Art Exchange, Glance Art Gallery, Page-Walker Art & History Center, Cary, NC, Burr Gallery at S.C. Jazz Festival, Campbell House Gallery in Southern Pines, NC, Chicago African Arts Festival. In addition, his works along with 64 more artists was accepted in the 2011 North Carolina Artists Exhibition at Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts-Betty Ray McCain Gallery in Raleigh.

Ed art can be seen in the International Contemporary Artist Volume XI in April 2016.
