Marilyn Miller

Marilyn Mazin Miller is a contemporary sculptor whose work ranges from representational to abstract. She is a native of Louisville, KY and was reared in an artistic home. Her mother is an accomplished painter in Louisville and sponsors the Bernice and Ben Mazin Annual Juried Art Show.

Marilyn graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, certified in Early Childhood Education. She went on to teach in Head Start as well as the New York City public school system. While teaching, she started studying ceramic arts and began to nurture and develop her artistic skills and talents.

She then married, raised two wonderful sons, and became the Vice President of Irvin Simon Photography where she worked for over twenty years. During this period, she continued to study a variety of artistic endeavors including pottery, sculpture, and jewelry construction and design.

Marilyn discovered her passion for sculpture and began a concentration in this discipline. She has studied with master craftsmen in New York and Italy, including Ron Mineo from the Art Life Studio, and she continues to learn and grow by attending classes, workshops and conferences.

Marilyn’s work exudes a vision which is positive, strong, warm and often humorous. She uses a variety of materials including clay, bronze, cement, resin, steel, and stainless steel. Her unique creations can be recognized by the use of sensuous forms and lines. Nature inspires her sculptures, particularly the feminine figure, the plant world, and the animal kingdom.

Marilyn has had several solo shows at the Viridian Gallery and has participated in numerous group exhibits, including the Grounds for Sculpture. She has been recognized by a variety of prestigious arts organizations, including the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and Manhattan Arts International. She is a member of the Mamaroneck Artists Guild, Katonah Museum of Art, and the Art Society of Greenwich, among others.

Marilyn is presently represented by the River Gallery in Narrowsburg, NY and her work is in many private collections.
