Ellen Langer is a self-taught artist. She made her debut in the members juried show at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum the summer of 2001 (June 15 July2, 2001).
She is a professor in the Psychology Department at Harvard University, where she teaches and conducts research. Her work has led to numerous academic honors including four Distinguished Scientists awards and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
In addition to her four best selling trade books, Mindfulness , The Power of Mindful Learning, On Becoming an Artist: reinventing yourself through mindful creativity (which brings together her two lives, artist and psychologist.) , Counterclockwise: Mindful Health and the Psychology of Possibility, and The Art of Noticing, Langer has described her work in over 200 research articles and 11 books.
