Born in Oita Prefecture in 1933, Ishigaki has a long history as a potter and serves as a member of the Japan Art Association and the Ceramic Art Foundation. The painting-like expression of his ceramic pieces are the most distinctive characteristic of his work and his unique style has been highly praised overseas as well.
