Born in Chiba Prefecture in 1924, Ishige is a calligrapher who studied under Senshu Taneya. She is a participating member of the Shodo Geijutsuin. Ishige creates and displays calligraphic works while teaching calligraphy to children in the city of Narashino. Ishige creates her pieces while pouring into them the desire that they will speak to others and inspire in them a desire for peace.
