Born in 1953, Junko Shimizu is a Japanese-style painter. Having learned traditional Japanese haiga, Shimizu began her career by painting with ink on postcards and colored paper. Always considering new ways of painting which depart from classical styles, she carefully adjusts the hues of her ink with water and combines it with other materials to create her pieces.
