Martin Hagen

I was born in Jackson Hole, WY in 1954 to Grant and Margret Hagen both of whom were very active in the arts. My mother was a flutist and music teacher, and my father was an acclaimed artist being very versatile in his profession.
As a young man I found I had a talent for Nordic skiing which led to a birth on the first US Jr. Biathlon team. This led to a fifteen year long career in biathlon that encompassed many national titles and a spot on seven World Championship and three Olympic teams.
Because of my parents influence growing up, art and music were never very far away. So, after my athletics I went back to school to the U of Wyoming to study music education. While there I took a sculpting class. My father being so versatile also sculpted and this genera spoke to me. So, here I am now utilizing my experiences growing up and in athletics on the world stage to forge my work in bronze.
