I feel fortunate to have worked in a creative field over the last 25 years in video production as a producer, writer, and editor. My profession has allowed me to broaden my personal sphere of creativity in many directions.
It was my desire to recapture the thrill of a “truly creative experience” that urged me to experiment with new mediums oustide motion media.
My goal in creating art is to delight the eye, and shock the sensibilities. And, if it can’t be beautiful, it must be provocative.
Blurring boundaries, breaking rules, and compulsive experimentation occupy much of my artistic time. I use unconventional materials and concepts outside the scope of traditional art-making.
I feel the process of experimentation has allowed me to grow as an artist … in many surprising directions. I’ve also learned that stagnation is far more frightening than failure.

Maria is a life-size assemblage consisting of thousands of metal screws, chrome and silver parts. More than 600 hours went into her creation. The assemblage of Maria utilized hundreds of metal objects ranging from a martini shaker – to a kazoo.
No detail was spared in her creation. Each of her hands is comprised of a full set of antique typewriter keys, held in place with screws and resin. Her face is a mosaic of hundreds of tiny mirrored tiles.
Although originally inspired by Fritz Lang’s 1926 film, “Metropolis” Maria’s concept drastically evolved over the 14 months it took me to complete her. The acquisition of Maria’s “parts” actually began about 8 months prior to her assembly- so her overall completion time was just under two years.

Nevermore is an internally lit mixed media piece that explores Poe’s “Raven”. The torso is comprised of compressed cardboard, glass, grout and upholstery fringe. The top is comprised of all vintage parts including oil lamp parts, and an automobile hood ornament.
“Lenore” is represented with a porcelain baby doll head and shoulders, dyed sparrow wings, a crown made of votive parts, and a real plasticized raccoon heart. Inside the torso hang two painted cages. Inside one is a vintage opium bottle (representing Poe’s unfortunate, alleged addiction), and in the other, a vintage pocket watch with the picture of a raven inside.
