Hugo Ruggiero

I was born in Mendoza Argentina August 30th 1959. I started drawing and painting at a very young age. My father was an architect and lover of all arts, with his special sensibility to see beauty in everything, influenced me and showed me my first steps into the art world. At the age of 5, I started taking drawing classes, painting and ceramics at the Quintanilla Museum.
With my parents I traveled all over the world, all these fantastic experiences motivated me to create art and through colors show my appreciation to beauty. I spent my early years between USA and Argentina.
After elementary school I studied art and painting at the Instituto de Historia del Arte, at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Mendoza Argentina, and at the Museum of Modern Art. I studied colors and shades with the artist Alba Martin and Joaquin Araujo.
After finishing high school I studied Psychology in Advertising at the UNC, I graduated in 1981 with a Psychology applied to Advertising and Communication Media and also with a degree on Arts. After graduating I traveled to Europe where I spent almost a year going from country to country visiting museums, galleries and taking art courses also participating in group shows and solo exhibitions in Italy and Spain. Finally by the end of 1982 I established myself definitely in Los Angeles, California.
I worked for GTE/Verizon Telecommunication for over 18 years, in 1992 I painted a mural for GTE LAC Language Assistant Center in Mar Vista Calif. and for Verizon National Telecommunication Center in Santa Monica and Victorville in the year 2000 representing all the different nationalities working at the Centers. I was Sales and Promotions Coordinator in charge of designing internal promotion, logos, posters and the decorations be used on the promotions also I created and designed the art to be displayed at the Centers.
In the year 2007, after my career with Verizon ended and having more free time I started painting and dedicating myself to create art again.
