Valerie Leri graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in 1982 and has become an established artist in her community of Cape Cod. Many of her paintings are inspired by the beaches, marshes and trails that surround her.

Her mission is to create paintings that are uplifting, both for herself as well as the viewer. To that end, she often uses bright, bold colors and soft pastels. She would call her style of painting intuitive, that is, being more about flow than form, thus creating many styles of paintings with her favored subjects being landscapes and seascapes. Her favorite medium is acrylic paints.

Her paintings can be seen in many international online galleries. She has also exhibited her paintings in galleries, both on Cape Cod as well as Rhode Island and Connecticut and in private collections throughout New England. She has received awards for several of her paintings, among them, Gathering Storm and Sojourn into Spring, which have won several awards through online gallery competitions. She has been interviewed and had several of her paintings in Cape Cod Magazine.
