As an artist my personal connection to the land is inherent in my work. Painting outdoors on location is the major driving force behind my art and I bring that knowledge into my studio. Nature is constantly transient. Its changing light, atmosphere, weather, and color provide an endless source of inspiration. Using paint and a brush I have woven a tapestry of color on these canvases. The work in this portfolio demonstrates the variety of landscape found in different regions of Canada.
Painted en plein air at Crystal Crescent Beach, Nova Scotia.
The mist over the sea creates an interesting translucency and the view moves in and out of focus.
It is a challenge to paint a fog bank moving in and still capture the movement of the waves.
This is a painting, painted to look like a drawing.
