Ruth Killoran

Ruth was born and educated in Liverpool, UK. She studied art for 5 years and had a successful career as a commercial interior designer in the London area.

She emigrated to New Zealand in 2006 to live her dream and now works full time as an artist.

She has won awards for both her sculptures and paintings and exhibits her work regularly in New Zealand. She hopes to build on this and become internationally recognised.

Ruth's comment...

" I seldom have a plan. I observe forms in wood, stone and shells and in the early stages of a painting I try to keep my mind from any preconceived ideas. My style of painting has developed since carving stone and the two mediums feed off each other".
" I love the spontaneity that can easily be achieved with water colour paint. I look for balance of contrasts and form, creating a feeling of movement and drama in my work. Please see my website for more information www.ruthkilloran.co.nz
