Susan Boye

I came to the US as an exchange student from Denmark and ended up staying. My work has been shown locally in Seattle at The Cornish Playhouse, Stone Press Gallery and the Fountainhead Gallery, I have also participated in group exhibitions in Tacoma Art Museum and Whatcom Museum of History and Art. My work has appeared in traveling collections in cities across the country, Canada and Europe. In addition to individual collectors, my work is owned by several local government agencies. I have also worked as a professional printmaker and as an illustrator, completing commissions for the Washington State Archaeological Society and a Danish children’s book publisher. I received my B.A. in Fine Arts and my M.F.A. in Drawing and Printmaking from Washington State University.

Portfolio:

Shields

This series of drawings are imaginary shield constructions made out of twigs found in my back yard or places I have visited. I find the twigs to be both simple, beautiful and complex in their shapes. I like their linear quality, textural surfaces and inherent impermanence.
