Marek Grychczynski

I was born and educated in Poland where I have studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and graduated with M.A. degree. Presently I live and work in Oakland, California.

Eclectic in my interests, I am highly influenced in my art by a passion for ancient civilizations and nature.

I am seeking to synthesize the tangible world with a metaphysical one. In this ‘alternative world’ my artistic fables and abstractions take on a life and reality of their own.

As well as painting with oil and acrylic, I am proficient in “mische”, a technique which was popularized in the XV century by old masters employing tempera and oil paint together.

The various graphic techniques which I have developed are testing new frontiers in the visual experience of the viewer.
