Dale Najarian is an internationally recognized artist. She received her BFA from Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia and worked for over fifteen years
as a Graphic Designer and Art Director at various design firms and advertising agencies in New York City, Philadelphia and Washington DC.
Dale works in several mediums including watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, and oils. She has a passion for photography and documenting her experiences is an important part of her creative process and source of inspiration for much of her work. She recently spent an extended period of time in Switzerland, documenting life in the city and mountains. When she relocated with her family for 3 years to Singapore and traveled throughout South East Asia, New Zealand and Australia, she found the light and textures of Asia interesting and palpable. Her Koi series is inspired by traditional Chinese brush painting that she studied under a Master Calligrapher while in Singapore.
Dale’s Shadow Series merges the realistic quality of a photograph with the abstract translation of a scene, to depict a dreamlike painting that draws you in. She is fascinated by the perspective that shadows create, and uses people’s movements to capture the ever changing relationship between dark and light.
Dale is an advocate and philanthropist. She received the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award from Moore College of Art and Design for her active roll in using art to connect with a larger audience. She currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Norwalk Art Space, providing free art education and experiences for Norwalk students. She is also on the Executive Board of the Artists Collective of Westport and is a Board member and Project Manager for #UNLOADusa.org, a non profit organization using the arts to drive the conversation about gun violence in America. She is an active member of the Greenwich Arts Council and Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County. Dale served on the Executive and General Board at the Museum of Contemporary Art Westport from 2008-2016 and was an active member of their Visual Arts and Education team while volunteering as a teaching artist at Yale’s Smilow Cancer Center.
