Location: United Kingdom
hello!
I'm Lynne, delighted to meet you
The combinations of textured mediums and vibrant colours I use to create my paintings fill me with joy - and I hope they make you feel joyful too!
I've always been inspired by beautiful things, and places, especially those where I feel a connection to the character of a place, person or structure. Abstract art has always held an attraction for me, and feel that the abstract style of my paintings is enriched by the addition of underlying texture.
Originally from Northamptonshire, I lived in several locations around the UK before choosing to live and work on the Isle of Skye. I'm delighted to have the chance to focus on making art whilst surrounded by the part of the world that moves me to paint from the heart. My studio is on the edge of the island where I can feel the freedom of the light on the water. It's peaceful here, and somehow the expanse of sky looks bigger, even against the majestic mountains.
When I'm not painting in my studio, you can often find me sketching around Skye and Lochalsh, having driven down towards the sea in Buttercup (my much-loved yellow VW Beetle) or attending local life drawing sessions at the Lochalsh Life Drawing group. I've also been an avid attender of the virtual life drawing sessions that have become available from the School of Painting, St Ives, and take part in the Willowing Arts Life Book each year.
After finishing each painting, I write creative blog posts. Some of these form in my head whilst I'm working on the painting, but mostly they arrive out of my fingers onto the keyboard just as I'm reflecting on the piece. I usually derive the name of the painting from those posts. You can see these posts, together with all my latest drawings and paintings by going to my blog on my website.
Wishing you the happiest day, thanks for journeying along this creative path with me.
Lynne
