Woman from cover is artist latest seria of work where she built upon the notion that utopian values exist in media imagery. She fracturing modern visions on the image with collage and expressive brush strokes. The viewer is left looking at a mask that has been unveiled from our classical perspective and reinterpreted with a depth and quality that pushes the boundary of modern portraiture. And as all great painting the works our way of seeing and speak beyond the canvas to our very foundations.
Working in mixed media Tjasa creates powerful images that are representations of our high gloss post -modern media saturated environment. The works are handled in an expressive painterly quality and it is these qualities that set Tjasa her work apart from classic portrait image production. It is in the handling as in all great expressionist paintings where the message lies, the works are spawn of media culture but thought the expert handling and applied techniques emerge as a reflection on our reproduction culture.
