Julie Pace Hoff

Julie Pace Hoff is the creator of the modern painting style "Aesthetic American Folk Art," which is a combination of academia intermingled with the root of traditions in communities and the American culture. The painting's aesthetic expresses the identity from the place, rather than that of the artist. Her aesthetic folk art paintings involves impasto applications of paint, with fine details to capture the culture and it's environment.

Impressions from American life over the last seventy-five years inspire Julie Pace Hoff’s Aesthetic American Folk Art. A black and white cat is placed in each complex painting, adding some whimsy to artwork. Focusing on the American flag-bearing patriotism is distinctive to the paintings, and their celebration of patriotic events. She says "we see and remember our history, our accomplishments, and our successes as a nation in these paintings. Using a lot of color with a strong composition represents the strength of America.”

Julie graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, before becoming an instructor at Otis Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles. She established herself in advertising art as a freelance illustrator for many years, working with six representatives throughout the United States. In 2013, Julie researched her genealogy and became a member of the DAR.

Her art has been compared to the whimsy of Norman Rockwell, the scenic folk art of Grandma Moses, and the American charm of Charles Wysocki; all captured in her own unique "Aesthetic Folk Art" style. She says, "I'd like to think that if you look closely at the paintings you will see your family smiling back at you.”

Julie is married to Michael Hoff, a retired. They have a daughter Emily with undergraduate degrees in english and linguistics. She is furthering her educations in law school.

American Girls day Out “American Girls day Out”

"American Girls' day Out" is a charming painting honoring the American girl scouts and their fund raising efforts selling cookies. The Girl Scouts of America in the United States of America began on March 12, 1912 when Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low organized the first girl Guide troop meeting of 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia. Note the spreading of daisies through out the painting in remembrance of Juliette. A terrific American folk art painting of a true American organization.

American Pumpkin Patch “American Pumpkin Patch”

The "American Pumpkin Patch" represent our traditional pumpkin patch here in the states. It takes about four months for a giant pumpkin to grow from a seed to maturity. Smaller pumpkins (standard ones weighing between eight and 12 pounds) take only 60 to 90 days.
The biggest threat to the crop isn’t weather or disease, but crows.
When the seeds are first germinating, the crows come. They’ll go from row to row just pulling them out of the ground. The outcome of the hard work pays off when visitors come to purchase their favorite pumpkin for the season as represented in Julie's painting.

Gingerbread House “Gingerbread House”

The Gingerbread House is a wonderful site to see during the winter holidays. The tradition of making decorated gingerbread houses started in Germany in the early 1800s. According to certain researchers, the first gingerbread houses were the result of the well-known Grimm's fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel" in which the two children abandoned in the forest found an edible house made of bread with sugar decorations. These became popular during Christmas, a tradition that came to America with Pennsylvanian German immigrants. In San Francisco, the popular hotels display rival gingerbread houses during the Christmas season.

Autumn In Central Park “Autumn In Central Park”

Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States, and one of the most filmed locations in the world. New York's Central Park is a perfect visual for Julie's Modern American Folk Art. The bright colors of the fall trees with the brush strokes indicating the wind. The family's enjoying the park at the bottom of the painting by either jogging or flying a kite, entices the viewer to be the next visitor to the park.
