Location: Mexico

Brenda R. Fernandez (Brenda Rodriguez Fernández), was born in Mexico City in 1973. She studied Artistic Initiation at the National Institute of Fine Arts of México and then majored in Art at the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana. She also studied with the Maestro. Luis Nishizawa , in 1997, with whom she learned the handling of multiple painting techniques and procedures.

Her artistic career has led her to exhibit in various venues in México City and throughout the country, namely the Embassy of Cuba in Mexico, El Ateneo Español, the Siqueiros Cultural Poliforum and several Galleries of the City, as well as the Cultural Centers of Chiapas, Tabasco, Baja California, Puebla, among others.

In 2016 she mounted "Destramando", exhibition in which she clearly recreates the layout of her map. Stains, firm lines almost exact, scratches that mold shapes, breaks that design compasses, soft chiaroscuros that denote rhythms, accumulated broken forms summed up to build a construction.

In 2019, she began exploring the use of different techniques, materials and textures, as well as the handling of solid colors into an abstract monochrome, that provokes the spectator to have a wider interaction and dialogue with the artwork.

In 2019 She exhibited her artwork at the Contemporary Art Fair Carrousel du Louvre Paris (October 18-20), at the Art Fair in Bruxells (November 15 – 17), at the Modern Art Museum in Vienna (sept 2019 to January 2020)

In 2020 she will participate in BADA Mexico exhibition (February 6 – 9, Mexico City). Art the International fine Art Cannes Biennale (May), also in the 2 International Contemporary art Bienniale Basel, Switzerland (June 19 – 21).

She is working now with Paks Gallery in Austria (2019 – 2021), and with Van Gogh Gallery in Spain (Nov 2019 – January 2020).
