Diane Pribojan

My imagery forms from fleeting images that I see briefly, or ideas that occur to me momentarily. I capture these images and ideas in sketches and notes. Some things that spark my interest are, my unexpected and unintentional involvement with the subject, the abstract qualities in representational subjects, and the subject obstructed, hence interrupting space, also, the contrast of geometric man made architecture verses the natural organic landscape.
The house as a recognizable object in my paintings makes them representational, but they are not naturalistic. They actually stem more from conceptual and minimal ideas. My houses are physically impossible idealized images with exaggerated colores and structure. With this I am able to express a specific mood or time of day and light.
