Meg Miller

Meg Miller is a Scottish artist born and based on the Isle of Skye. She graduated with first-class honours in Sculpture from Gray’s School of Art in 2019. Her multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation, with work rooted in an ongoing exploration of nature, transformation, and interconnectedness.

Recent projects have drawn from the interwoven worlds of gardening and beekeeping, where the cycles of the hive and the landscape provide ongoing inspiration. Guided by intuition and a deep sensitivity to materials—whether beeswax, natural pigments, or found objects—her work often moves between figuration and abstraction, blending symbolic and surrealist elements to evoke rhythm, memory, and the unseen forces that shape our world.

She has participated in residencies with Cromarty Arts Trust and the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, and her work has been supported by the Visual Arts and Craft Makers Award, the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust Exhibition Award, and the Caram Trust Award. Time spent in Greece and India, alongside a long-standing yoga practice, continues to influence her creative approach, which embraces liminality, renewal, and the subtle exchanges between place, material, and perception.

Instruments for Metamorphosis: A Symphony of Collaboration

Embarking on my current artistic journey, I find myself in the company of a diverse and vibrant cast of collaborators. From the industrious honeybee and the purposeful foraging fork to the enigmatic polecat and the evocative fishing hook, my creative ensemble expands to include the serpent goddess, oats, oyster shells, honey, wax, oil, milk, bells, candles, incense, white Kurti, and the cardinal points.
These entities form the backbone of my research-led multidisciplinary art practice, each contributing a unique voice to the symphony of transformation that unfolds within my work. Together, we navigate the intricate dance between nature and symbolism, utilising a palette as varied as the elements themselves.
In the studio, I draw inspiration from this collective energy to draw, paint, sculpt, and perform. Each stroke of the brush, every sculpted form, and the resonance of performance contribute to the evolving narrative. I compile soundscapes that echo the rhythmic pulse of collaboration, creating an immersive experience that transcends the boundaries of traditional artistic mediums.
In this convergence of diverse mediums, I explore the profound potential for metamorphosis. The honeybee hums in harmony with the bells, while the serpent goddess intertwines with the scent of incense. Oats and oyster shells become vessels of exploration, and candles cast a flickering light on the intersection of the tangible and the symbolic.
Through this collaborative journey, my art becomes a conduit for introspection, inviting viewers to witness the alchemy of creation and transformation. The cardinal points guide us through a narrative that transcends boundaries, offering a sensory experience that resonates with the essence of change, growth, and the beauty inherent in the evolution of both self and art.

Interwoven Realms

This collection captures the quiet yet profound connections that weave through the natural world. Sea, air, and land are in constant dialogue, each element distinct yet inseparable from the others. Through the forms of seaweed, I explore this delicate interdependence—where movement and stillness coexist, and where life unfolds in subtle, unseen threads. The work invites a contemplation of these invisible bonds, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect on the connections that bind us all, both to the earth and to each other. It is a reminder that even in the quietest spaces, there is a continual exchange and transformation.
