Jean Gauvreau was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. He continues to call the Outouais region Gatineau his home, and his paintings reflect the culture, and seasonal moods of the area.
Early training includes high school art & technical drawing courses, and a diploma in Graphic Arts at Algonquin College. Jean began exhibiting his paintings both on the West Coast and Ottawa in the 1970's relying on positions as a graphic artist and Window Dresser to support himself. Upon returning to Ottawa he began to teach oil paintings with the Nepean Visual Arts Centre and continues to teach at: www.jbarts.ca
He has had numerous exhibitions throughout the Outaouais region and recently was selected by www.charitycards.ca to feature his painting "Maple Farm" in their collection of Greeting Cards with part of the proceeds going towards the "Children's Wish Foundation of Canada". He continues to receive commissions for his work reflecting the Gatineau region where he resides.
Works by Jean Gauvreau are in the collection of Lt. Govenor General of Nova Scotia, "The Honorable Alan R. Abraham", and numerous private collections in Canada, U.S.A., China, Russia and Europe.
