​As a Mexican I am full of culture and tradition. My main objective as an artist when making artwork is bringing old-fashioned Mexican colonial style into the modern era. "La Catrina", or elegant skull, is one of my main inspirations when creating a new piece. La Catrina is not only a cultural symbol, but a legacy in Mexican culture that has influenced the artwork of many throughout the years. I also present other culturally significant symbols – such La Loteria Mexicana (Mexican bingo), Papel picado (used in altares de muertos on Day of the Dead and other festivities), and ancient techniques like Talavera painting – combined with a variety of materials like acrylic, ink, gels, sand, papier-mâché, and more to modernize, revive and reinvent Mexican art inspiration in a modern way. Each piece transmits a different sense of being, feeling, or thought; my works convey a point of view from the perspectives of language, cultural differences, race, cultural bias, and so on. By creating my original artworks with Mexican folklore and daily experiences, I am able to bridge the gap between past and present as a modern Mexican artist.
