Kim Balentine is a native of Raleigh, NC and artist whose aesthetic is inspired by travel to foreign coastlines and influenced by capturing memories. As a free spirit, she spent time living in England before returning to NC. In 2003, she was the feature artist for the Tall Ship Race in Cowes, Isle of Wight.

As Raleigh evolves, she is inspired to document the memories of the past as well as embrace the future. Many of her paintings are iconic buildings of local favorites that evoke a sense of nostalgia. Expression, energy, color and movement are important aspects to her work. While she has primarily worked in acrylic paint, other mediums such as watercolor, soft pastel and charcoal are applied creating a greater range of subtlety.
