Maria Evangelina Rodriguez
Maria Evangelina was born in Morelia Michoacan, Mexico.
Since 1978 she has lived in her adopted hometown Tijuana B.C., San Diego's border city. She received her Bachelors degree in Dentistry in Mexico, but painting and drawing had always been her real vocation. She got the Art and Creative Process degree at the University of California, Campus San Diego, (2003-2005).
Love for horses made them the main theme of her work, she is identified by it and her ink work, is the result of her own search. Her lines and stains of ink make you discover a horse or horses, most of the time in movement allowing the viewer to feel its power and grace. 
Her horses don't have bridles or halters, nor saddles, giving them back at least in an illusion, their freedom which we have taken away from them.
She has participated in several group shows, auctions and art festivals on both sides of the border, and has had several solo shows in Tijuana B.C.Mex. In 2005 she won first place for the 2006 Cover Contest for the winter issue of the magazine "Horses in Art" (USA). In 2006 she also won first place in the Regional Painting Competition presented by L.A.Cetto, the largest Mexican wine producer, and the label of the wine commemorating the 80th anniversary of the winery is one of her paintings (Reserva Platino 2008).
