Karin Swildens was born in Holland of dutch parents, raised in Morocco, studied at the Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris France.
Designed HERMES scarves, illustrated children's books and magazines, worked at the restoration of Le Louvre Museum paintings.
She came to Los Angeles and started SCULPTING in 1980.
Her sculptures were appreciated by Austin Productions Inc as well as Collections 85 and Jaru.To this day her designs are in the line of Artisan-House, a fine wall -sculptures company based in Burbank, California.

Since I discovered CLAY in 1980, I have given SHAPE to feelings , thoughts, stories, mythological events and mystical visions. I intend never to stop this creative activity.

"Bucephale" is one of my latest HORSES. He is STRONG, GENTLE and PROTECTIVE.....That's how we like them.
The PEN & INK DRAWINGS that one finds on the website wwww.karinswildens.com usually start with a sentence that generates pictures in my mind.
I then illustrate that sentence , first in pencil and then in PEN & INK . I chose black or white paper and use white or black ink.
