I am a painter and theatrical designer interested in the collaborative processes and artworks created by the performance of live theatre, particularly as applied to expectations, illusion, and transformation.

I am currently expanding on the painting side of my constant intersection with art and theatre by showing paintings in London with Art Below recently in Art Below Regent's Park, Art of Angel and soon in the Summer Show at the West Bank Gallery in Notting Hill from June 20 - 30th, 2014.

The Summer Show paintings are inspired by the challenge of a summer solstice theme, which I used to develop imagery based on the astrological chart for the 2014 solstice.

I'll be working in acrylic on several ideas connected to this theme and will post the images as I complete them.

The watercolor's and pastels that you can see have been painted on-site while traveling.

Lisa Cody-Rapport is a Resident Artist in Design in the Theatre Arts Department at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. Previously she was a Lecturer at Tufts University in Boston, MA, and worked as a Show Finisher in the Hollywood Studios Scenic Shop for Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. She holds a BFA in Theatre Design from West Virginia University, and an MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Connecticut.

Lisa’s professional theatre design experience in set and costumes includes regional work at the Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Connecticut Rep.’s Nutmeg Theatre, The Worcester Foothills Theatre, The Underground Railway Theatre, The Barter Theatre, Florida Stage, and Orlando Shakespeare Theatre. Her work in NY includes Off-Off Broadway costumes for The Blue Heron Theatre and summer stock sets at The Depot Theatre in Westport. Lisa designed the costumes and ran wardrobe on location for the film “Who Wants to Marry My Husband” (Echelon Studios) and the 1990 national tour for The National Theatre of the Deaf’s “The Odyssey”, as well as BHT’s “Viva Cummings!” for the Caracas International Theatre Festival in 1992.

Lisa has painted scenic and murals for The American Stage Festival, The Annie Russell Theatre, Disney’s Hollywood Studios Scenic Shop, The Hard Rock Cafe in Houston, The Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, and the Orlando Science Center, as well as in New England and NYC.
