Nikita Dulerain was born in Vilnius in 2003. His life was immediately filled with diagnoses – cerebral palsy, epilepsy, intellectual disability with autistic tendencies. His future looked to be full of hardships and won’ts – he won’t be able to walk, won’t be able to speak, won’t be able to hold a pen, won’t be able to write, draw, or do anything that ‘normal’ kids can.
He has gone through a long and difficult journey but through which proved everyone wrong. In 2019, brushes and paint fell into the ‘broken hands’ of this young boy. What came of this is a magical glimpse into this boy’s world.
There are no barriers to what he can do in this world so he pours out his emotion onto the canvas – fears and desires, dreams and hopes, illusions and reality.
Through his painting, one can see what is hidden deep within one’s soul. His paintings are addictive, drawing you in to look at it, again and again, and every time you take another look you can be sure to find something new.
A field of flowers and impassioned energy can leave no one feeling indifferent, as something painted from the heart is sure to touch yours too.
Nikita Dulerain was born in 2003 in Vilnius with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, minor learning disability and autistic traits. The medical diagnosis was that he would never walk, talk or be able to hold a pen. Through years of incremental work and determination, Nikita, with the help of his mother and younger brother, proved the doctors wrong. In 2019 a boy who had poor use of his hands received paints and a brush, and then a miracle happened – he could finally express the unique world contained within him. The use of colour and texture in his art explodes emotion unto the canvas; intertwining fears and desires, passions and aspirations, illusion and reality. In his work, everyone sees something uniquely personal to them. It transcends the barrier between naturalistic and abstract, crystalising the most complex inner processes of human consciousness into a visual form.
