Doretta Miller

Miller’s paintings, either gouache on paper or oil on canvas, represent narrative scenes of people or still-life subjects. Over the years Miller has painted images of China and Italy where she lived and taught. Miller recently returned to painting oil on canvas. At this time she is re-directing her attention to subjects closer to home, and recently completed a series of oil portraits of chairs. Throughout all of Miller’s works, regardless of medium, emphasis is placed on the play of light and the richness of surfaces.
