Rhaisa Miriette Castrodad Molina is a Puerto Rican-born, 3rd year medical student and artist. Since very little, Rhaisa began to demonstrate passion for the arts of drawing and painting. However, it wasn’t until she was 8 years old, when she started taking art lessons in her hometown with the Puerto Rican artist Luis G Cajigas. She took art lessons for two years, and since then, she has kept developing her skills in an autodidact manner. Due to her studies in medicine, it was very difficult for her to let the world know about her talent, but it was on the year 2011, when the Puerto Rican artist, Antonio Cortés, was impressed by her work and invited her to his foundation, the Antonio Cortés Foundation, and to expose at the International Biennale Artist exhibition in Miami. In Miami, Rhaisa was selected to become one of the covers and to have a one page article in the “Art & Beyond” magazine of Miami, which is distributed within the art galleries and museums of the art district of Miami, Florida. On January 2015, she was then selected to participate at the International Biennale of Palermo, where she received multiple prices and invitations, which included: The Rome Imperial Prize; Mazullo Prize; International Prize Marcopolo- Art Ambassador; invitation to expose at Villa Castelnovo, Palermo, in the exposition Contemporary Paradise, with other 49 international artists; invitation to expose at the Biennale of Barcelona; and an invitation to be part of the art catalogue “We Contemporary, the faces of contemporary art”. Rhaisa also had the opportunity to expose at the Florence Art Exhibition, in Palazzo Giucciardini, Florencia, after her work being selected by the curators from the Biennale of Palermo. Actually, Rhaisa has been able to manage both careers and hopes one day to become a Neurologist/Artist, and use the arts as a social tool to help the juvenile population at risk of violent behaviors and school dropout in her Island. She strongly believes in the power of art as a humanizing, and sensitizing tool. This artist’s style consists of a figurative style, and using the female figure in her work, she celebrates the harmony of the human body. Rhaisa has always felt great admiration for the anatomy, physiology, and perfection of the human nature, and the art, emotions and empathy that is capable of expressing or conveying through art.
