Mihaela Savu

Mihaela Savu was born in Romania during the Communist era. Her parents, both physicians, were a constant example of dedication to community. For them, medicine was not a job but a privilege. Savu wanted to become an architect, but decided to serve and help like her parents, whom she have held in the highest regard. Savu became a physician, but continued to pursue art as a hobby.

After escaping Communist Romania during the darkest years of Ceausescu's dictatorship, Savu worked as an emergency physician in Israel and then immigrated to United States where she studied at Columbia and Albert Einstein affiliated hospitals in New York City. In 1998, she was an accomplished Interventional Cardiologist, established in Jonesboro, AR.

However, despite her success as a doctor, she carried all along the passion for art. She obtained her Masters Of Fine Arts from Rinehart School of Sculpture, Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD, where she continued her work teaching "Smart Textiles", a course combining robotics and art. Awarded the The C. Sylvia and Eddie C. Brown Studio at the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower in Baltimore Mihaela will continue to maintain a studio in Baltimore as well as in Jonesboro, AR.
