Hilde Lambrechts was born in Belgium. She resided in the Netherlands for 21 years before moving to Ottawa, Canada in 2002.
She studied biology at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands and holds a PhD in plant physiology since 1993. She was a student of Thea De Waard (The Netherlands, stone sculpture, 1999), Pamela Cockcroft-Laserre (Ottawa school of art, life drawing and painting, 2007-2009) and Jim Thomson (Ottawa school of art, ceramic sculpture, 2009-2011).
Her drawings and sculptures have been shown at both solo and (juried) group exhibits, winning several awards. She was a finalist for the RBC- Ottawa Arts Council Emerging Artist Award in 2012 and she works ferociously from her home studio.
In April 2010 Hilde founded Figureworks.org, a non-profit organisation promoting visual art of the human form. She curates annual juried Figureworks award shows in Ottawa.
