ARTIST BIO - 2012

At 46, I realized that I was not happy in the corporate world and made some major life changes. My spiritual practice of Zen Buddhism and Yoga led me to an awakened state for a short period. My painting ventures are a way for me to revisit that state. My art is a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. Painting is the process by which I interpret the world that is in a non-permanent state. I deem myself as an outsider-artist as I have little formal training. I believe that a finished piece of art carries the energy of the artist. Upon someone viewing this art, that energy manifests itself into an emotional state. If that state is, positive then I accomplished my task and may sell a piece of art; however, if the art elicits a negative reaction then I have also reached my goal. As I believe that, everyone should have the opportunity to cherish art as much as I do. I sell my art on a sliding scale when possible for those who may love the piece but are financially limited. I would rather have someone love my art and display it rather than just collect it for its potential value.

Portfolio:

FUNKY FUNKY

This portfolio is based on my blind contour and wrong hand series that I have done throughout 2012. Most of the works are mixed-media on paper. Two sized are used 11 x 14 inches and 12 x 12 inches. I do not really believe in prints so in most cases I only sell originally work. However, if some art lover wants a piece that I have previously sold I could create a print for them.
