In a world of so much chaos, an escape into the realm of faeries brings peace and glamour into our dimension. Faeries have always held my fascination when I encounter them within our realm. I utilize the magic within my artistic soul to summon these creatures so that anyone can experience their charm and be inspired to believe in what they cannot see.
My work is conjured onto canvas using copious amounts of modeling paste and acrylic paints with multiple layers of various brushstrokes and the use of palette knife techniques. Brilliant colors and metallic hues are used to enable the faeries to emphasize their `vibe`, inspiring the viewer to discover the essence of these beings. The texture of their skin, hair and backgrounds are vital to conveying the elemental qualities of each fae. I am perpetually discovering new ways to bring my faeries to life so they can gaze upon us humans as we admire their portraits.
This 30" x 24" original acrylic painting catches a cloud sylph travelling through the sky at sundown, allowing a sliver of the brilliant rays to peek through her eye. This piece was inspired by the intense and colorful sunsets during Fall in the Pacific Northwest. On a personal note, I had several experiences in one week where I was met by the blinding gaze of the setting sun through a parting of thick, billowy clouds. Hence, this faerie just had to be conjured onto a canvas.
This beauty was crafted using copious amounts of modeling paste to texture to the piece. Palette knife techniques and Impressionistic brush strokes were utilized to apply the vibrant colors for a dramatic flair to recreate my experience.
This 24" x 18" original acrylic painting depicts an ancient spirit embedded in driftwood that has been submerged in rocks and sand. Her one glistening eye gazes curiously upon the world. This creation was inspired by a piece of driftwood located on the shores near Port Orchard, WA.
The 30" x 24" original acrylic painting witnesses an earthly fae crystalizing as she stretches out onto what little foliage remains as Winter sets in. This mysterious beauty will remain hidden among the frosted grasses and leaves until the warmth returns. This piece was inspired by a unexpected frost in mid-November in the Pacific Northwest.
Modeling paste and palette knife techniques were used to accentuate the layering of the leaves. Various brush strokes with multiple sized brushes were utilized to create a grass-like texture for the background. A soft, Impressionistic technique applied the paint to the fae and to create the illusion of frost upon the leaves using metallic mediums.
This 18" x 24" original acrylic painting draws in the essence of the Blue Moon from the heavenly bodies that surround her. This illuminated fae casts her gaze onto the world below, ushering in new, unbridled energy for fresh starts. Creation of this piece began on the second new moon (blue moon) in August.
This 30" x 24" original acrylic painting catches the dreamy gaze of a rain nymph, dwelling in a puddle of falling raindrops. This mysterious beauty glances upward towards the world beyond her watery home, dreaming about endless possibilities.
This piece was created with copious amounts of modeling paste, acrylic paint and metallic mediums. Many of the ripples from the raindrops cascade off of the canvas.
This 18" x 24" original acrylic painting catches the moment a water nymph rises to the surface of the cool waters, creating a rippling of waves from where she appears. The sunlight dances on the water as this mysterious creature looks towards the viewer with an element of surprise.
