Born in Kochi Prefecture in 1928, Oguro is a calligrapher who places importance on being active in his hometown, including serving as an adviser for the Ryuchi Shodo-kai in Kochi. He produces works which carry on the high technical abilities of his master while reveling in his own individuality. His pieces have also received extremely high acclaim overseas.
