Ines Šimek (1977) – Croatia

I was born on 1977. in Osijek, Croatia and I've been doing photography since 1998. I have learned basics of photography from professional photographers in Osijek and after that I continued to develop my photography skills through lot of effort and learning on my own.
Over the years I sent my works to numerous photo competitions in Croatia as well as abroad. Some of these works were rewarded and some of them were accepted and included in exhibitions.
2001.
-3rd prize on photo competition „VII izložba fotografije autora osječko-baranjske županije“ („VII exhibition of photography by authors of osijek-baranja county“), Osijek, Croatia

2002.
-one work was accepted to photo competition „Mundial fotofestival Rovinj“ („Mundial photofest Rovinj“), Rovinj, Croatia
-one work was acepted to photo competition „VIII izložba fotografije autora osječko-baranjske županije“ („VIII exhibition of photography by authors of osijek-baranja county“), Osijek, Croatia

2009.
-one work was accepted to photo competition „Dani prirode“ („Days of nature“), Banatski Brestovac, Serbia

2011.
-with several works I was chosen for finalist at event „Hrvatski foto izazov“ („Croatian photo chellenge“)
-one work was accepted to photo competition „Horseville“, Novi Sad, Serbia
-two works were acepted to photo competition „XVII izložba fotografije autora osječko-baranjske županije“ („XVII exhibition of photography by authors of osijek-baranja county“), Osijek, Croatia
-I was invited and approved for inclusion in the book „International masters of photography Vol. 1“, by publisher World Wide Art Books, Santa Barbara, California

2012.
-I was approved to participate at „Red Dot Art Fair“, New York (03-06 May, 2012.)
-from 03.03.2012 till 17.03.2012. I had my first solo exhibition called „View through my lens“, Osijek, Croatia
-I was invited and approved for inclusion in the book „Important world artist art publication“, by publisher World Wide Art Books, Santa Barbara, California
-my work was published in „Aesthetica Magazine“

2013.
-two of my works accepted to photo competition "Otok i more 2013" ("Island and the sea 2013"), organized by photo club "Kornat", Croatia

2014.
-I had my second solo exhibition in the premises of photo club Osijek, Croatia

2015.
-one of my work was selected for calendar titeled " Slavonsko, naše" ("Slavonian, ours") for year 2016. Publisher "Privlačica", Vinkovci, Croatia

2016.
-one of my work got to 8th place at photo contest "Volim svoju županiju" ("I love my county"), organized by Croatian county community, Zagreb, Croatia
Themes of my works are various, but on my photos I'm always trying to capture that moment that had impression on me. Impression that has some meaning or delivers some message or is a moment of my perception of what surrounds me.
Also, in my work, I just love to use natural light to get images I want. I love variety of colors, tones and games of light and shadows that natural light can provide
