My name is Tanya Marie Reeves, I’m a single mother of two and a Professional Artist from outback Australia, self-taught, flourishing from a natural talent and an exceptional eye. With over 20 years experience I proclaim my unique artistic expression predominantly through acrylic and mixed media, striking a balance between abstract and realism, manipulating lines and colours to create a kaleidoscopic feel while also exhibiting a meticulous sense of order. I have exhibited nationally throughout Australia and internationally, boasting shows in New York and Florence and Nice. I also design artisan craft and operate my own private gallery in my hometown.

This is what I do. Bold saturated colour, geometric formation, contrasting shades and flawless lines, mostly encompassing a feminine sensuality and depth, sometimes with an underlying quirky sense of humour or hidden perplexities.
You will find my mixed media pieces (and more recent work) are a little more relaxed and nowhere near as stringent as my earlier artwork (most of which you will find in my "Acrylic" portfolio).
Clara was inspired by extraordinarily beautiful ballet poses I had come across while researching. Her name fitting, originating from a character of a famous ballet, also appropriate for her Christmas Eve birth, The Nutcracker.

This piece has a really rough texture which makes it difficult for the camera to pick up the true vibrant colours. The collage is an assortment of random objects split by the sword, for example if you notice the apple core on the left and the full half flesh of the apple on the right.

This is my favourite piece of all. The amount of time and patience involved makes Penance the most rewarding for me. Each fiddly coil of string is wound and attached by hand, the rings actually piercing the canvas strung with ribbon. And the torso. The torso I believe is some of my best acrylic work yet! I wanted to portray pain and beauty here, isolation but yet the undercover population of desire.

I have found that I just adore using fabrics. It is so beautiful and easy to work with as well as creating a fantastic textured effect, so I really wanted to use more of it in this piece. Again with contrasting lines, patterns and colours. She wound up far from my original thoughts of her, but fantastic never-the-less.

Lady Odelia. I wanted to create a piece where the colours didn't make sense and yet fit together perfectly. I wanted to bring more mixed media into my artwork which I enjoy working with immensely. I LOVE this piece. Lady Odelia followed the direction I wanted perfectly yet even bettered by expectations.

I truly do not know what to tell you about this one. Im not even sure if I am happy with the result... I love the triangle, the body laying in front of what I imagine to be a dragon, the concept of puppetry and the circles giving the feeling of floating. I was thinking fantasy, though I'm not sure if ended up in the correct realm. There is a lot of texture going on here and the colours are beautiful (the camera certainly doesnt do the piece justice in this respect) which I also adore.

Have you ever drawn the sillhouette of two faces looking at each other to creat a vase or chalice, maybe during a primary school art class as a child?
Kisses Blossom is created from the same concept, only the faces are slightly overlapping as if kissing. From there I formed a flower, the blossom of the kiss.

I came across a black and white photo by an unknown photographer very similar to this pose. I fell in love with the concept of this image though I wanted to recreate it in my own style.

There is a small dent in the top of the painting about 0.5cm in diameter (see photos) on the edge of the frame. It bares no visual disfigurement to the actual artwork, however I have reduced the sale price.
I love this piece! Gorgeous colour combination, patterns, shapes and contrasting lines. The silhouette finishes off the piece perfectly.
