ANTONIO ALEIXO CRISTO
Born in Estômbar, Algarve, António Aleixo Cristo has always shown a natural inclination for aesthetic creation. From an early age, he explored various art forms, including painting, ceramics and serial reproductions. His incessant search for aesthetic innovation led him to push the boundaries of conventional school programs.
In the 1960s, Cristo went abroad, dedicating himself to researching unconventional plastic languages. He worked and exhibited in Italy, France, Holland and Scandinavia, where he held his first solo exhibition at the Kulturcentrum Gallery in Stockholm in 1972. His unique work earned him representations in European, American and Japanese collections.
Returning to Portugal in the 1980s, Cristo continued his artistic research in the solitude of the Algarve, exploring photography, material painting, graphics and tile sculpture. In the 1990s, he combined technological innovation with traditional processes, taking part in numerous exhibitions and the 1st National Congress of Institutional Plastic Artists, ANAP/AIAP (Unesco).
Recently, Cristo has made a name for himself in the world of pop art and graffiti, creating works that combine urban art with innovative digital techniques. His internationally recognized pieces evoke the vibrant energy of the urban streets.

The Reinvention of Ceramics: The New Collection of Antônio Aleixo Cristo
António Aleixo Cristo, a name synonymous with innovation and mastery in ceramic art, presents us with a new collection of mini tile sculptures that transcends the boundaries of conventionality. These pieces, measuring 210 mm x 210 mm x 10 mm, are a celebration of color, shape and texture, each fired at 1200 degrees Celsius with ceramic pigments that give them a unique vibrancy.

Infused with the Positive Energies of Hephaestus, the God of Protective Fire
Each piece in this collection is not only a work of art, but also a talisman of protection and positive energy. Baked at very high temperatures, these ceramic sculptures are blessed by Hephaestus, the God of Fire, imbuing them with a mystical force that protects and energizes any environment. The presence of sacred fire in the vibrant colors and dynamic shapes of the pieces is a testament to their divine origin, making each tile a relic of power and beauty.

A 25-Year Journey: From Rest to Divine Transformation
These works were created more than 25 years ago and have remained dormant, waiting for the right moment to reveal their true potential. Now, transformed into divine and protective pieces, they emerge as testimonies of a rich history and a mystical transformation. The connection to time adds a layer of depth and meaning, making each piece not only a work of art but also a keeper of stories and positive energies.

Vivid Energy: The Dance of the Tiles
The collection is a visual journey through the abstract, where each tile tells a distinct story. The compositions, which combine elements created in the 90s with new techniques, reveal Cristo's ability to transform the past into something contemporary and relevant. The diversity of patterns and colors not only captivates the eye, but also invites reflection on the evolution of ceramic art. The composition of these pieces is not just a matter of aesthetics, but a careful orchestration of energies, where each tile was positioned to maximize the harmony and mystical force that emanates from each one.
Drawing inspiration from movements such as Pop Art, which celebrates popular culture and everyday life, and the techniques of Jackson Pollock, known for his drip painting style that revolutionized abstract art, Cristo brings a new dimension to ceramics. Furthermore, the influence of graffiti is evident in his works, with the vibrant energy and spontaneity that characterize urban art.
Each piece in this collection is unique and signed by the artist on the back, making it a true relic for any home. These sculptures are not mere decorative objects; they are manifestations of a profound artistic vision and impeccable technique. The collection reflects a perfect synergy between tradition and modernity, showing that true art is timeless.
These works are a testament to António Aleixo Cristo's unparalleled talent and his dedication to art. Each piece is a window into the artist's creative universe, where ceramics transform into visual poetry. Don't miss the opportunity to explore this collection that redefines the limits of tile art and enriches any environment with its presence.
